A Chronicler's Life

Why Joshua Kieffer?

I derived the first name of my son from Joshua tree. It was given by a band of Mormons who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid-19th century. The tree’s unique shape reminded them of a Biblical story in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky.

This was what I felt when I lost our first baby Joshua to miscarriage. I’ve reached my hands up to the heavens and said “If it is Your will my Lord, Your will be done.”
