Flintridge Sacred Heart collects personally identifiable information, such as e-mail addresses, names and mailing addresses. Personal or contact information is requested when users register for an event, complete an online survey, make a donation or purchase, or access a password-protected area of the site. Contact information for prospective families, students, parents and alumnae (constituents) are kept on file, gathered at the time of inquiry, application and/or registration to attend Flintridge Sacred Heart. After registration, profiles of students and parents on the school’s information system (TologNet) are created. Access by others to these password-protected profiles is limited according to roles assigned by Flintridge Sacred Heart. We do not collect personally identifying information of non-constituents, unless the user chooses to provide such information to Flintridge Sacred Heart. Providing such information is strictly voluntary.
Flintridge Sacred Heart’s website provider collects information about users’ computer hardware and software, similar to any other website provider. Flintridge Sacred Heart uses this anonymous information for the operation of website services, to maintain quality of those services, and to obtain general statistics regarding use of the Flintridge Sacred Heart website. Flintridge Sacred Heart endeavors to comply with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) standards and all other rules and regulations of various credit card organizations and networks relating to the security and safeguarding of cardholder information. Credit card holder data is encrypted and transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to Flintridge Sacred Heart’s payment gateway provider, a third party service provider that is PCI DSS compliant. However, no server, computer or communications network or system, or data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Financial transactions conducted through the Flintridge Sacred Heart website are done at the user’s own risk.
Constituents may submit credit card holder data to Flintridge Sacred Heart via means other than the website. Unencrypted credit card holder information is sometimes received for financial transactions over the phone and through paper donation forms and event registration forms. Constituents are advised to not send such sensitive information to Flintridge Sacred Heart via e-mail. It is the school’s policy to process such financial transactions through a PCI DSS compliant third-party service provider and then destroy unencrypted credit card information within 48 hours after receipt through the use of cross-cut shredders. Before processing, unencrypted credit card information is locked in a secure location with access limited to select employees. Confidential information that is uploaded to the website, including grades, homework assignments, and private notes or communications between students and faculty or students and advisers are accessible only to specific faculty and staff and the constituents who are directly involved. Such confidential information is always password-protected and access is limited by role.
