Sophie’s Batangas Beach Trip

I was still not that well but then it was Sophie’s first beach trip with the family that’s why I had to be there even if hell (excuse me for the cuss) freezes over. I wanted to see and experience that first for her since I’ve missed out on a lot already. So I’ve mustered all my strength and come 5 a.m. of March 8, Sunday we were already on our way to Batangas. We got to Munting Buhangin beach resort at 10 minutes past 9 a.m. I was so sleepy because I did not grab even forty winks while we were on mobile because hubby stayed up very late also and he was the designated driver. So I was quite worried that he might fall off to sleep while driving. So I tried to be awake the entire trip while all others were already in the Land of Nod. When my darling baby woke up and started moving around, she got nauseous and hurled at Yaya’s lap. Pity Yaya Tata, she was firm in her decision that she will not bathe in the beach because of her fear of the waves but Sophie gave her a different bath, ha! ha! At least no waves, right yaya? The smell was terrible but we all endured it until we reached our destination. Sophie changed into her swim suit right away but I guess she wasn’t feeling very “beachy” that day. This is Sophie’s Yaya, Grace. But we fondly call her Tata. She’s with us since Sophie was just weeks old. She loves and cares for Sophie like her own. Though she’s still too young to start a family.

After a long day, my beautiful daughter slept so soundly on her favorite Dora the Explorer comforter and her favorite Anti-Asthma doll Amber. She didn’t care that she was on top of the dining table and in front of the beach. Poor baby, she must be prety exhausted.

I try not to think about it but it still happens. I drink vitamins, take supplements, eat healthy foods but I don’t understand why do I still keep getting sick. I hate it when it happens especially that I won’t be able to hold my daughter and do our nightly rituals: playing, reading a story, praying and finally singing to her until she falls off to sleep. I feel like an absentee mom especially that I’m a career woman and I just have the opportunity to bond with my daughter when I come home at night. It’s hard that I’m not able to take care of her personally that I have to leave her to my trusted care giver but it’s doubly difficult that for 3 days now I could only see her from afar. I’m so worried that she’ll get whatever I have that’s why I just content myself watching her and not touching her. I miss her so very, very much. It breaks my heart every time she calls on me and stretched out her arms to carry her but what am I to do? Yaya, told me just an hour ago that Sophia was having trouble sleeping because she suspected that she has my cold virus already. I asked hubby to go and attend to our little baby and true enough Sophie got colds already. This is the thing that I don’t want to happen but I guess the cold virus that I have has already spread in the entire household. Good thing that we have Salinase nasal spray always in hand. I bought it months back when Sophie was still in my tummy thinking that I’ll have a need for it someday. And this day is that someday. I’m relieved that the nasal spray did wonders for her and now my lovely daughter is sleeping ever so soundly already. I just hope and pray that her colds would not worsen like what happened to me.

My Queer Baby

Yesterday, we went to the doctor for Sophie’s monthly booster shot. Sophie was just so happy to get out of the house. She wants to be always on the move. As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts she is a highly strung infant. You’ll see her always doing something; crawling, standing, playing and even while she’s sleeping, she still can’t stop from moving. She was jumping like there’s spring on her soles on the way to the hospital. When we were nearing the hospital and she saw the familiar buildings and streets, she started screaming and crying. We were startled because she’s just seven months old but it seems that she already knows what going to the doctor means. It means that there would be needle and a lot of pain involved. She’s got a rather retentive memory. Anyway, when her doctor was talking to her, she was cooing and said Yey! unintentionally. And when she saw the injection she started saying Ay, yay, yay, yay, yay! As if saying Uh-oh… here comes my foe. We all laughed including her doctor because she had this really anxious look on her face as if she already knew what’s going to happen. Of course she cried after the shot but not for long. She’s such a brave little girl and I love her more for that.

Today is a very special day for Sophie. She’s celebrating her 7th month birthday! My daughter has a lot of antics up her sleeves now. She knows how to turn each and every one of us like putty in her hand. She usually uses her charm on us every time she does something really mischievous. She winks and smiles her sweetest smile and everything is forgotten all at once. When she smiles, the world falls at her feet. I’m worried that we might spoil her too much but who can resist her irresistible toothless smile? See for yourself.
