Figs, I Like!
When I was still heavy with child my doctor warned me not to eat too many sweets for the fear that I might develop gestational diabetes. Being a sweet tooth that I am, it was so hard for me to put up with that. But of course since I don’t want anything bad to happen to my darling Sophie, I’ve followed the doctor’s order to the letter. I decided to just munch on fruits whenever I have the craving and one of the fruits that I grew really fond of is dried figs. Do you know that dried figs are richest in fiber, copper, manganese, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and vitamin K? And it’s a natural laxative so you can say goodbye to constipation. Pregnant women are overly constipated just like I was and I can really say that figs helped a lot. But since we don’t have Fig trees here in our country, I can only have a taste of the preserved ones. I’d like to try eating a fresh fig sometime. I’m sure that it’ll be a one of a kind gastronomic experience.
