Credit cards instead of cash

In my opinion, it is better to bring with you your credit cards rather than your ATM cards and cash. Why? We cannot turn our backs and pretend to be ignorant on the fact that a lot of robbery cases are happening every minute in the metropolis. Snatching of bags or wallets containing cash, robbing an individual or group of individuals even in broad daylight, several modus operandi of gangs to sweet talk your money out of your hands, and a whole lot more. One of these things may have happened to you already, or to someone you know.

My bag was snatched a couple of years ago. It was done by a man on a motorcycle. Had it not been for the good people who helped me, I said might have said goodbye to our utilities money.

Going shopping, some people still prefer to bring with them cold cash. Unmindful of the danger they are in whenever they fish out their wallets inside their bags. I remember a case in the Greenhills shopping mall wherein a woman got robbed of seventeen thousand pesos in cash without her knowing it. The money was inside her bag and she withdrew that amount to shop for Christmas presents. It was truly sad.

So I suggest that when shopping, we better use credit card machines. That way, even if the credit card we are carrying get into the hands of a robber, we can immediately call the bank to cancel our cards. Unlike when your cash gets into the hands of the a robber, then you can kiss your bills goodbye. Most establishments are processing credit cards now. Most people prefer it over cash transactions. Imagine paying for a sofa set worth fifteen thousand pesos and paying it in cold cash. Too risky. Now then if you have your credit card with you, one swipe will do it all. Of course, there is the danger of buying unnecessary things. It’s up to you to discipline yourselves. If you can’t, try asking yourself this question: Would I rather get myself in trouble by carrying cash with me or do I just try to discipline myself when I am carrying with me my credit cards? Now choose.
